All about vitamin B1

Vitamin B1 is also known as thiamine.  it is important for improving circulation, break down of carbohydrates to produce energy in the cells. It is needed to produce and transmit messages in the brain.   Vitamin B 1 is also  important for the production of collagen – an important part of our skin structure.

The RDA of Vitamin B1 is 1.1mg and the SONA is 12.5mg.

A lack of Vitamin B1 can  lead to sensory symptoms and shaky hands

Good food sources of vitamin B1 are; Wheat germ, wholemeal bread, yeast and yeast extracts, pork chop, tuna, duck, oatmeal, sunflower seeds, green peas, romaine lettuce, asparagus, potato, celery, aubergine and ham.
