All about vitamin C

Vitamin C comes in many forms but the most well-known is ascorbic acid. Sometimes supplement names can be slightly misleading as magnesium ascorbate is a form vitamin C that has been complexed with magnesium. This particular form tends to be more gentle on the digestive system .

Vitamin C is important for Immunity, collagen production, skin repair and firmness, fertility and is a potent antioxidant.

The RDA of Vitamin C is 80mg and the SONA of Vitamin C is 750mg.  however people do take much larger amounts when they are suffering from immune problems and as it is a water-soluble vitamin any xs is removed in the urine.  An excess of vitamins C can cause bleeding in the digestive system.

A lack of vitamin C  is associated with easy bruising, dry scaly skin, bleeding gums, gum disease, frequent colds and persistent infections.

Good food sources of Vitamin C are; Kiwi, bell peppers, parsley, broccoli, papaya, mango, oranges, strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, cauliflower, grapefruit, cabbage, asparagus, winter squashes, sweet potato and plums.
